When Indiana Fall Color Peaks (and Where to Catch It)

Indiana's fall color moves north to south, usually starting in the Michiana counties in early October and finishing in the Hoosier National Forest hills by early November.

The ravines at Turkey Run and Shades hold color a little longer than open ridgelines because the canyon walls shelter the leaves from wind. If a storm strips the canopy, drop south — Brown County and the Hoosier National Forest are typically a week or two behind.

Weekend parking at the marquee state parks fills before 10am in peak weeks. Go on a weekday when you can, and always verify hours and closures with the managing agency before you drive.
